You can prevent diabetes and live a healthy life

Every day is a new chance to make a healthier choice. Take these steps to lower your risk of developing type 2 diabetes today:

  1. Keep (or achieve) a healthy weight
    • Eat smaller portions
    • Move more
    • Find ways to lower your stress and feel good about you
     
  2. Enjoy healthy foods (in smaller amounts)
    • Eat more vegetables
    • Choose higher fibre foods
    • Use the plate to help you balance meals
     
  3. Be more active
    • Aim to move your body at least 30 minutes every day
     
  4. Quit smoking
    • Ask your health care team about quit options
     
  5. Get tested
    • Ask about your diabetes risks
    • Take care of your blood pressure, heart health and body weight
